Dr. Chamata is dedicated to humanitarian causes. He organizes and delivers medical assistance to various countries in the world community. As a first-generation immigrant himself, Dr. Chamata has seen first-hand the lack of infrastructure and access to healthcare in many countries abroad, ultimately inspiring him to take an active role in such projects.
HOPE Medical Missions
In 2008, Dr. Chamata founded a not-for-profit organization, “HOPE Medical Missions,” at the University of Texas to establish medical trips for physicians and students to provide free medical care to the underserved in various countries.
Medical missions around the globe
Since establishing HOPE Medical Missions, Dr. Chamata has structured several medical trips, including destinations to multiple countries in Africa and South America, such as Senegal and Panama. He has actively participated in numerous medical trips to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and several other countries.
During these missions, thousands of patients are treated in temporary hospitals built from the ground up, supplied with medications and medical equipment from the United States.
The rewards of giving back
Some of the most rewarding times in Dr. Chamata’s medical career are directly due to giving back to communities in need. He hopes to continue active participation in yearly trips to provide medical and surgical care such as cleft lip and palate reconstruction, burn reconstruction, and much more.
